These smoke bombs are not really 'bombs' at all, they are simply a slowly combusting pyrotechnic compound known as KNSU or Potassium Nitrate and Sucrose. This compound when combusting produces a very large volume of white smoke; of which can be coloured by adding particular coloured compounds. It is used in many comercial applications as smoke generating devices including paintballing and special effects.
